Chinese Calligraphy Education Project through Hong Kong signages
Through our collaboration with Chinese calligraphy artists Katrina Mo, and sound artist Alain Chiu and the support from The Mills and Credit Suisse, the Chinese Calligraphy Education Project aims to help the youths:
- Understand and appreciate the real-life relevance of Chinese calligraphy, the historical contexts of the art form, and the individual emotions and expressions conveyed by Chinese calligraphy;
- Create a meaningful and multi-sensory experience that enhances their appreciation of Chinese calligraphy while also helping them understand the perspectives of “black” and “white”; and
- Introduce a facet of Hong Kong’s disappearing culture through art making in order to strengthen their cultural sensitivity in daily life and enhance their emotional and intellectual connection with our wider community.
Arts and culture education and youth development have become some of the main social responsibilities of our society. We look forward to future opportunities to work with different corporations, institutions, artists, art exhibitors, NGOs and schools to make collective and collaborative social impacts together.
