Art Viewing Community Service Project

The project was constructed based on our belief in the concept of “social prescribing” particularly during Covid and post-Covid. We engaged over 30 University of Hong Kong (HKU) student ambassadors leading and facilitating over 20 study groups for over 80 younger students from primary, secondary and tertiary levels at M+ Museum and Hong Kong Museum of Art (HKMOA) on Saturdays.

Through the art-viewing study groups, we encouraged students to exchange ideas and interpretations, ask open-ended questions, and share different perspectives. More importantly, the sessions shared the joy and meaning of arts with members of the Hong Kong community, who might lack support and opportunity to view and appreciate art in their regular lives.

This initiative is designed to make art viewing accessible to students (aged 9+) who might not have regular access to the arts. More importantly, we are creating co-learning experiences for the university ambassadors and beneficiaries and helping broaden their perspectives, respect differences, and foster connection with the community through this self-directed learning opportunity.
